Campo Grande accounts for 11.0% of the population of Campinas — 125,044 people. IBGE released the 2022 Census microdata on August 31, 2026, and only since then has it been possible to read the Census at the neighborhood level of detail. Casa Hacker requested the sample microdata from IBGE, gathered the 256 census tracts of the district, cross-referenced the sample with the universe, and assigned neighborhood names to 249 of them using CNEFE, forming 43 localities.
The research shows that the internet has arrived where a college degree hasn’t yet: 90.0% of households have internet (compared to 92.0% in Campinas), but only 8.4% of people aged 25 or older have a college degree (compared to 29.8% in the city). The median per capita household income is R$ 1,067, compared to R$ 1,750 in Campinas, and 60.4% of households live on up to one minimum wage per capita, compared to 34.7% in the city. Within Campo Grande itself, inequality also has a geography: in the 47 tracts located in favelas or urban communities (20,351 people, 16.3% of the district), the median income of the head of household is 24% lower than in the rest of the territory.
When it comes to color or race, the picture is different. In Campinas, the median per capita household income for white people is R$ 1,925, compared to R$ 1,212 for Black people. In Campo Grande, this gap almost disappears — R$ 1,000, R$ 837, and R$ 906 among white, Black, and mixed-race (pardo) people — because the territory already presses everyone downward.

Disagreeing with the data is a contribution. It’s dialogue, debate, and an exchange of experiences among leaders, residents, and organizations.
