Hey there!

Do you miss having a space to talk about your challenges and hopes, where your opinions are taken seriously? FEAC’s Conselho Jovem is an external commission for exchange, where whoever shows up discusses things and makes recommendations to the institution.

Imagine a group made up entirely of people from your own reality, advising, guiding and making recommendations directly to FEAC’s Programa Juventudes and its partners, making a difference in the city of Campinas?

Each gathering comes with a new theme. Each debate turns into a report packed with recommendations to be used when projects are being planned. It is a travelling affair across different spaces in the city, where young people from different areas exchange experiences and talk in groups.

Straight talk, and it is going to be good!

Shall we?

Programme

Gathering 1 - Self-knowledge - 22/Oct/2022 (Held)

Our first gathering was for exchanges about self-knowledge. There was so much to think about and talk through on the subject. We gathered the opinions, the refusal to accept things as they are, and the recommendations, and handed it all to FEAC’s Programa Juventudes. Now is your chance to join the gatherings on the 2023 calendar…

Gathering 2 - Mental Health - 21/Jan/2023 (Held)

In this gathering we are going to talk about how young people’s minds and hearts are doing. In Brazil, it is estimated that one in every six people aged 10 to 19 lives with some mental disorder, the group most exposed to the risk of self-harm, depression and suicide. If that is how things are, we need to talk, and talk a lot, about how this plays out in the periphery — after all, the negative impact of poverty and discrimination messes even further with the sense of happiness and wellbeing of these young people. Right or wrong? We want to understand what you have been seeing, hearing and feeling. No surveys here: what matters is listening to those in the thick of it.

Gathering 3 - Citizenship and Political Advocacy - 04/Mar/2023 (Held)

Being and acting politically is a very different matter from voting. Understanding and taking hold of the country’s political and institutional mechanisms is revolutionary — after all, whoever does not know their rights does not move to claim them, right?! Everything we hustle for is a political act. So? Are people switched on to this? Every time an individual or collective right is not guaranteed, we ought to act. Zoning out helps keep injustice in place. Shall we get to grips with what is going on with this subject?

Gathering 4 - Entrepreneurship - 13/May/2023 Held)

Entrepreneurship goes far beyond survival, and we want to talk that through. How are young people making sense of the opportunities for work, occupation and income? Shall we unpack that conversation and look for the ways towards those opportunities?

Gathering 5 - Impact Work - 01/Jul/2023

Is it possible to work and drive social impact, all at once? On this day we will bring guests who are building their own stories and, along the way, transforming the reality of their communities. The aim is to listen to you, but also to inspire you ;)

Gathering 6 - Solutions Forum - 05/Aug/2023

Shall we tell the city of Campinas all the recommendations we co-created? On this day we close in style, laying out our whole journey. How? Come along, and we will work it out as we go!

Who can take part?

Young people aged 15 to 29 who live in the city of Campinas.

Take note…

Each gathering is in a different space, so as the journey is a long one, keep an eye on the addresses, because they may change.

The gatherings are always on Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm.

You will not need to bring any kind of material. Whatever is needed, we provide :))

If you miss one gathering, that does not stop you taking part in the others. Just come!
