The month of Agosto Lilás hosts the campaign against domestic and family violence towards women, established by Lei Estadual nº 4.969/2016, with the aim of stepping up publicity for the Lei Maria da Penha, raising society’s awareness of the need to end violence against women, and publicising the specialist services of the support network for women experiencing violence and the reporting mechanisms that exist.
