Hey, Hackers! How’s it going?
Nyak here, sharing a bit of what I’ve been living through in building PerifaImpacto and how it connects directly to my journey at Casa Hacker.
From bureaucracy to agility
If I had already been going through a transformation by leaving traditional, bureaucratic structures behind for a more agile way of working connected to social impact, today I see that shift make even more sense when I look at the peripheral leaders who are part of the program.
At PerifaImpacto, we work with people who are already in motion in their territories. They are leaders who create, mobilize and sustain initiatives even with few resources and many demands in their daily lives. When these leaders gain access to tools, methodologies and a structured network, what happens is not just organization. It is empowerment.
Agile management in the territory
Throughout the journey, I have closely followed how agile management, when applied with active listening and adapted to the reality of the periphery, strengthens initiatives that are already powerful from birth. We are not talking about teaching from scratch, but about organizing, systematizing and scaling up what already exists.
In our gatherings, training sessions and advisory work, we deal with planning, action logging, indicator building and strategy development. All of this with a very clear focus on the territory and on the people benefited. Every tool has to make sense in practice and fit into the routine of the people who are building things on the ground.
Concrete results from the leaders
The results show up in concrete ways. The leaders start to structure their actions better, expand their partnership networks, diversify their fundraising strategies and increase the number of people reached by their initiatives. Little by little, they stop seeing their projects merely as one-off actions and begin to see them as organizations with the potential to grow and become sustainable.
This reality is very different from what I experienced before in more traditional spaces; compared with what I used to see, the contrast is stark. Traditional organizations drown in rework, risk and complexity. Minutes on paper, beneficiary records on yellowing index cards, storerooms full of moldy folders, physical signatures that vanish to termites or damp. I worked in places where files from 1999 evaporated in 2024 for lack of care. Outdated equipment, disconnected teams, communication that equips no one. This bred disengagement, high turnover and a constant devaluing of the nonprofit sector.
At PerifaImpacto, the challenge is a different one. It is about turning power into structure without losing its essence. And this happens collectively. The exchange between the leaders, the strengthening of the network and access to tools create an environment where learning is continuous and shared.

Today, as a project manager at Casa Hacker and a project assistant at PerifaImpacto, I see the reflection of all this: organizations reach out to us to systematize learning tracks, pedagogical guides, up-to-date themes and team training. Our relevance echoes across the ecosystem, and the mission is to share this openly, as we do at Mão na Massa (our hands-on, public sessions), open to all.
Shared drives, real-time management platforms, digital beneficiary records with demographic data in plain view, call recordings with transcribers so nothing is lost, secured digital files and signatures. Internal and external courses keep the teams sharp. This not only saves 90% of our time on decisions and task execution, it also fosters real well-being in the nonprofit sector
I see that technology, management and processes are means to something greater. The strengthening of those who already transform the territory every day.
The periphery that leads
With every gathering, every activity and every step forward by the leaders, it becomes even clearer that when the periphery accesses the right tools, it does not merely keep up with innovation processes. It leads. And it leads with its own language, its own solutions and its own way of building impact. That is what drives PerifaImpacto and that is what I keep building every day.
