What this Handbook is

The Youth Forum Handbook is a guide made to make it easier to implement the social technology created by the initiative. The material systematises and shares knowledge, offering a structured path for replicating a project model that puts young people at the centre of social change.

More than a handbook, it is an invitation to build collectively spaces where young people can express themselves, take the lead and co-create solutions aligned with their own demands and realities — written in collective collaboration with the young participants of the Forum themselves.

What you will find in the work

  • Glossary — definitions of the essential terms of the field;
  • Introduction to Social Technology — the concepts and foundations that guide the Forum’s proposal;
  • Implementation methodology — the detailed stages for creating a Youth Forum in different contexts, from initial mobilisation to sustaining the movement;
  • Tools and practices that strengthen youth agency and active participation in the social and political questions of the territories.

Where the experience comes from

The Handbook distils the Forum’s real trajectory in Campinas: the evolution of the Youth Council (22 training and advocacy meetings with the FEAC Foundation, 2021–2023) into an autonomous movement led by the young people themselves — with 10 young fellows on the Leadership Committee, 5 territorial forums in the peripheral regions of the city, training in social participation, human rights and public policy, a map of initiatives and the podcast “Juventude na Voz!”.

The work also presents the four areas of work of Casa Hacker that underpin the model — STEAM education, social innovation, digital inclusion and policy advocacy — and the organisation’s recognition by the Observatório Social and by the international Hollie’s Hub for Good award (DigitalOcean).

Who it is for

Civil society organisations, collectives, schools, funds and public managers who want to set up structured spaces for youth participation in their territories. Want support to implement it? Get in touch: falae@casahacker.org.
